RIPE Altadena is pleased to announce a Square Foot Gardening Seminar taught by our very own member Jo Ann Carey.
“Saving the world, one square foot at a time.”
Nothing compares to the flavor of food that is grown in healthy soil, without pesticides, and allowed to grow until just the right time for harvesting. Square foot gardening uses only 20% of the land space of a conventional garden and saves both water and time. There is no tilling of the so anybody can do it. This method will be fully explained, so you may create your own square foot garden, with lessons on setup, planting, watering, growing vertically, pest control and harvesting. Sunday Sept. 26th, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the home of RIPE Altadena Member Jessica Yarger, Altadena.
We still have space available!!! You DO have to fill out the registration form and bring it with you. At the door (at the gate?) price is $20.00. Still not bad for a three hour class with hand-outs, right in Altadena. You certainly won’t have to drive far!
(Link for the registration form is at the bottom of the page.).
There will be Three drawings for a Free In Home Consultation by Jo Ann to help you select how to set up your square foot garden. ($25.00 value.)
Details to Remember:
Please bring a chair to sit on if you are able to. Some chairs will be provided.
Handouts given, but they are two sided. Bring paper, a pen, and a clipboard.
It would be most wonderful to bring something to snack on if you are able!
Park Swap that same day an hour later at Farnsworth Park.
Please proceed directly to the back yard and do not knock at the door!
Double driveway, please stay on the LEFT side (Jessica’s side) of the driveway and do not wander up into the neighbor’s yard!
